Rosalie Ridzi Viafore of Lawrenceville St. died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 82.
She was born November 13, 1925 in Shalgovce, Slovakia the youngest of four children to the late John B. and Veronica Bezek Ridzi.
She moved with her family to the United States when she was 4 years old, landing at Ellis Island on Easter Weekend, 1930. She grew up in New York City.
She was a realtor and insurance agent with her husband, the late Victor S. Ridzi, operating Ridzi Insurance in Yonkers.
Rosalie was a woman of great faith. She loved her Church and ministered to people by visiting the shut-ins and those hospitalized, regardless of the weather and by bringing them Holy Communion. She also provided pastoral care at Kingston Hospital and acted as a Patient Representative at Benedictine Hospital.
She also had great faith in her family, always encouraging her nieces and nephews to pursue their dreams and personal growth. She put her creative talent into sewing clothes and painting canvasses. She had a can-do, cheery disposition. Many were blessed by her optimistic outlook and her personal interest in their well being. She insisted on overcoming adversity.
Surviving is her sister, Magdalena "Maggie" Sturges of Stone Ridge, her sister-in-law, Margaret Ridzi, four nieces and four nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
A brother, Frank M. Ridzi and a sister, Mary Senesi died previously.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Kingston.
