Ronald C. Wolven of Route 209, Marbletown died unexpectedly on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Kingston Hospital. He was 76.
Born in Woodstock on April 28, 1930, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Beulah Sommerville Wolven. A Kingston High School graduate, class of 1948.
For over 24 years Ron worked at I.B.M., Kingston in shipping. He retired in 1987.
A member of the YMCA for over 50 years, Ron was a competitive weight lifter. He participated in exhibitions and high level competitions. He was also a member of the Hurley Reformed Church.
On April 25, 1975 he married Dolores Dafgard Williams.
Six brothers Harry M. and Clifford C. Wolven, Arthur Ray, Donald, Llewellyn and Lauren VanValkenburgh all died previously.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 31 years, one daughter Valerie Tushak and her husband Stephen of Town of Ulster, three sons Kevin Williams and his wife Sallie of Marco Island, FL, Brian Williams and his wife Diane of West Hurley, Denis Williams and his wife Cheryl of Brewster, MA; one brother John E. Wolven of Saugerties, seven grandchildren BRandon and Amanda McGrane, Lindsay McKay, Ryan, Eric, Erin and Marc Williams; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Hurley Reformed Church at 11:00 AM. Rev. David Brechter will officiate.
