Ronald A. Ramos, 73, of West Hurley, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at his home. Born October 3, 1938, in New York City, he was the son of Mary Trupo Ramos of West Saugerties and the late Alejandro Ramos.
Ron graduated from The University of Rochester. He served honorably as a Captain in the US Air Force in Vietnam before embarking on a career at IBM, from which he retired after 30 years of service. Upon his retirement, he returned to public service as a Test Administrator for The Department of Defense. Ron was also a member of The American Legion. He is fondly remembered as an avid fan of classic films, music and sports trivia.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan Jones Ramos of West Hurley, his three children, Cathleen Ramos-Michalopoulos of Woodstock, Stephen Ramos of Kingston and Craig Ramos of Gloucester, MA. Two grandchildren, Katia and Layla also survive.
A memorial service will be held at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. Kingston on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.
