Roger L. Dell

Roger L. Dell, 79, of Kingston, NY, died Sunday, May 2, 2010. He was born February 6, 1931 in Columbus, OH to the late Dr. Jacob Albert and Margaret Kalb Dell.

Roger graduated from Bexley High School in Ohio and went on to Ohio State University before enlisting in the US Army at Camp Gordon in 1951. During his time of service he attended microwave school at Fort Monmouth, NJ., he was then assigned to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Md., Edwards Air Force Base in Ca. where he worked on Atomic Nuclear Bombs, and Kirtland Air Force Base in NM, before being honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal in 1954.

Roger then graduated from Franklin University in Columbus, OH as an Electronic Technician. He then worked for IBM in Kingston, for 31 years until his retirement in 1987.

Roger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingston where he played in the bell choir. He was also a member of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and Sky Warn. He was an avid amateur HAM radio operator with the call sign KB2L.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alma Rider Dell, sons, Timothy J. and his wife Deborah Dell of Colchester, VT, Michael J. Dell of Plattsburgh, NY, and daughter in laws Donna A. Dell, and Brandi Dell, a sister Mary Hartmann of Connecticut, and eight grandchildren, Elisabeth, Rebecca, Hannah, Leah, Jacob, Sarah, Michael and Anna Dell.

He is predeceased by his daughter Leslie A. Dell and a brother Paul Dell.

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am with the Rev. Robert N. Harris, officiating.

Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston with military honors provided by Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.
