Rodger Colao

October 12, 1943 — September 2, 2015

Rodger Colao, 71, of Lake Katrine, passed Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus.

Mr. Colao was born October 12, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Frederick D. Colao and Julie Robatin Colao. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Fischetti Colao and two sons, Brian(Nida) Colao of Richardson, Texas and David Colao of Goshen, NY

He graduated from Kingston High School in 1961, Marist College in 1965 and received his graduate degree from SUNY New Paltz in 1972. He was a teacher at Kingston High School for 37 years, retiring in 2002. He was also employed for 35 years by the YMCA sponsored Summer Youth Employment Program.

An avid sportsman, he was a member of the Woodstock Golf Club and participated in just about every major sport for many years. Mr. Colao was active in sports officiating for some 40 years, having officiated Baseball, Softball, Football, Volleyball, Field Hockey and Wrestling. Most notably he was past president of the Central Hudson Valley Football Officials Association and co-founder and Executive-Secretary Treasurer of the Kingston Softball Officials Association. He worked State Championship games and college level games in several sports. He enjoyed traveling, and with his wife Carol, they visited many countries throughout the world.

The family would like to thank their many dear friends for all their acts of kindness, especially Jack Mizerack.

Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston The family will receive their friends on Tuesday from 3 - 7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure R.C. Church on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
