Robert Stanley Stedge

Robert Stanley Stedge, 88 of the Town of Ulster, was born to Leland and Elsie Stedge in Park Ridge, NJ, in December of 1926. Upon graduation from Congers High School in Rockland County, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II as an Aviation Electronic Technician's Mate from 1944 to 1946. He later graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. After graduation he moved to Kingston and worked as a salesman for Canfield Supply Company. He was very active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, served as President and was named "Young Man of the Year" in 1959. He served two terms as Justice of the Peace in the Town of Ulster.


In 1968 he joined Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance. During his career he attained the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Financial Consultant and obtained a Master's Degrees in Financial Planning. He was the founder and President of Capitaland Pension Services, Inc. As a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, he served as President of the Church Council for four years. Robert traveled extensively and enjoyed meeting people from other countries. He was President of Kingston AFS and hosted several foreign exchange students and a teacher from China. He was also a member of the Joyce Schirick Post #1386 VFW where he volunteered in the Color Guard. In addition, he was a life time member of the Town of Ulster Kiwanis.


He is survived by his wife, Patricia, two daughters, Anne Stedge-Outwater and Barbara Stedge, a grandson, Nathan Outwater, one sister-in-law, Joan Stedge, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Leland, and Rawalt Stedge, his sister, Jane Banim, and his nephews, Michael Stedge and Ernest J. Stedge II.


Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Friday December 11th from 4 to 8pm. The funeral service will take place at 11am on Saturday December 12th at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Wurts & Rogers St., Kingston.
