Robert "Tump" Knox, Sr., 77, of Kingston, formerly of Rock Hill, SC, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, June 2, 2015 at Golden Hill Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston. He was born October 14, 1937 in Salisbury, NC the son of the late Oscar and Eunice Roach Knox.
Mr. Knox was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1955 - 1961. He had worked for IBM of Kingston and Fishkill, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of His Word Revealed Church, he loved gardening, fishing, telling stories and spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them all how to ride their bikes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Judith Brown Knox, they wed on October 16th, 1971. His loving family, children Keith Brown, Theodore Van Dyke, Debra Benson, Daryl Van Dyke, Vella Bergeron, Dwayne Henderson, Robert Knox, Jr., Stephanie Wilson, Gina Kinyon, Guy Knox, Stephan Knox, Crystal Knox, 2 God-children: Tamekia Knox, and Juan "JP" Knox, his siblings George Knox, Alphonso Knox, Sr., William Knox, Lottie Knox, Rosia Thomason and Richard Hailey, 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Going Home Service will be at His Word Revealed Church, 205 Route 28, Kingston on Monday at 12 noon. The family will receive their friends from 10 - 12 pm. Pastor Theodore Van Dyke Jr., presiding. Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery with military honors provided by Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.
