Robert S. "Cowboy" Evory, 96, of Kingston, died Friday, June 24, 2011 at Golden Hill Health Care Center after a brief illness.

A life long resident of Kingston, Bob was born September 19, 1914 in Kingston, to the late Robert B. and Martha J. Shultis Evory. His wife of 48 years, Madeline Schline Evory died in 1993. He was the president of Binnewater Lake Ice Company, a family owned business for 48 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Wurts St. in Kingston, the Kingston Masonic Lodge #10 F & AM and the A.H. Wicks Engine Co. During WWII he served his county in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police Officer. After his honorable discharge he was appointed as a correction officer at Napanoch State Prison. He was educated at the Brigham School and Kingston High School where he lettered in football and basketball. He also played semi-pro football with the Yellow Jackets and semi-pro basketball with Kendall Oil. He was a Police Commissioner for the Kingston Police Department. for 12 years.

Mr. Evory is survived by his daughter; Christina "Tina" E. Godinez and her husband Lawrence "Larry" J. Godinez of Kingston, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Gertrude C. Britt and Helen J. Hyatt and a brother Loren M. Evory.
