Robert James "Red" Bence

Robert 'Red' Bence, 83, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017. He was born February 9, 1933 in Kingston, to the late William Bence and Margaret (Kelder) Bence.

He was married to Dolores "Dee" (Doll) Bence who passed away on January 22nd 2002. Red served in the US Army during the Korean conflict.

He later returned to Kingston and worked as a plumber for his family business for over thirty years, Bence Brothers Plumbing and Heating and he also owned B & B Bait and Tackle in Kingston. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Joyce Schirick Post #1386 VFW.

Red is survived by his children, Barbara (Paul) Cercone of Saugerties, Margaret (Pat) Jordan of Kingston, MSG(R) Robert J. Bence, II of Colorado Springs, CO, David (Tammy) Bence of Olivebridge, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2+ great great granchlidren, his brother, William F. Bence of Kingston, his dear friend, Audrey De Pasquale of Kingston, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Margaret Bence.

Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sunday January 15, 2017 from 3pm to 6pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11am at the funeral home with burial following in St. Peter's Cemetery, Kingston.
