Robert J. Corcoran of Port Ewen, died on November 13, 2015 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Robert was born in Kingston, the son of the late Michael Corcoran & Claire Wroblewski Corcoran of Kingston. Following military service, Robert graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a masters degree in Education. Robert dedicated 38 years of his life to elementary education in the Kingston City School District that included roles as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools and principal of Meagher, Chambers and Edson Schools. The Edson School library is dedicated in his name with the inscription "the love of reading is the best gift you can give to a child."
Robert is survived by his daughter Kathleen Schueler and her husband, Robert of Manchester, CT; a son, Robert J. Corcoran, Jr., and his wife, Laura of Kansas City, MO, and three grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew and Michael.
Robert was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Veronica Coniglio Corcoran, who passed in 1987. Robert will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 4-7 PM. The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:00 AM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church where Robert was a lector.
Interment will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery.
