Robert J. Duffy

Robert J. Duffy, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, while in hospice care at The Pines at Catskill Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was 79.

Robert "Bob" was born on September 30, 1944, in Kingston, to the late John J. Duffy and Ruth E. (Rowe) Nielsen. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1966. From 1983 to 1995, he owned the busy former Hasbrouck Deli on Hasbrouck Avenue in Kingston. Bob was generous and good-hearted. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football, and was a New York Giants fan.

Robert is survived by his three children, Shane Duffy, Cara Duffy (Daniel Shaffer), and Caitlin Reed (Scott), as well as grandchildren, Elliot Shaffer and Vienna Reed. A brother, Michael J. Duffy (Jennifer), one aunt, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Robert is predeceased by three siblings, Sheila A. Constable, Jacquelyn R. Hines, and David P. Duffy, stepfather Jacob Nielsen, nephew Sean Constable, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

As per Robert’s request, no service will be held. Following cremation, a private internment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Foxhall Avenue in Kingston.
