Robert B. Hansen of Cedar Street, West Hurley died Christmas Eve 2004 at his home. He was 76.
Bob was born in Brooklyn on September 22, 1928, a son of the late Valdemar and Pearl McCartney Hansen. His family moved to this area in 1938 and settled in Port Ewen. He graduated Kingston High School, class of 1946, where he lettered in Football and Track. As a young man he worked on the tugs.
After High School he served in the US Marine Corps. He later served in the US Army with the Blue Devils in Italy. Bob was a member of the American Legion, Woodstock Post 1026 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Joyce-Schirick Post 1386.
On April 24, 1955 he married Rose M. Saccoman. He has resided in West Hurley for the past 39 years.
For 34 years Bob worked for NY Telephone as a lineman and then as an installer in the Woodstock area. He retired in 1989 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Two sisters Helen Holmquist and Alexandra Betz both died previously.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 49 years, are his children Eric Hansen and his wife Jill of Ulster Park; Kurt Hansen and his wife Barbara of Kingston; Ingrid Yankowski and her husband Douglas of Boiceville; his grandchildren Erica, Elissa, Kelsey and Robert Hansen and Devon Rose Yankowski; his brothers Walter Hansen of Satellite Beach, Florida; Willard Hansen of Naples, Florida and Meredith, New Hampshire. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral will on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John's Church, West Hurley at 12:00. Interment with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386, V.F.W. will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
