Rita M. Geary

Rita M. Geary, of West O’Reilly St., died Thursday, October 27, 2005. She was 82. Rita was born in Kingston on July 28, 1923, a daughter of the late August W. and Elizabeth M. Newsome Bodenweber. She was a graduate of the Academy of St. Ursula and Our Lady of Victory School of Nursing (’44) at Benedictine Hospital. She married James V. Geary on June 26, 1944. As a Registered Nurse, Rita worked at Benedictine Hospital for 25 years. She retired in 1985. Rita was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and Rosary Society, and a Benedictine Nursing School alumni. She volunteered for several years at The People's Place. Her husband died on January 9, 1973. One brother William K. Bodenweber died previously. Surviving are four children, Paul V. Geary and his wife, Carol of Kingston; Elizabeth A. Geary of Long Beach, NY; Barbara J. Thomas and her husband Ronald of Kingston, Mark J. Geary of Kingston; her grandchildren Timothy Geary and his wife, Erin; Christopher Paul Geary; R.J. Thomas; Alison Thomas; her sisters Jean F. Bodenweber, Mary B. Forgey both of Kingston; her brother Robert A. Bodenweber of Town of Ulster; many nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue on Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
