Richard A. Kruger, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. He was born April 26, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Concetta Kruger.
As a young man, Richard worked at Laidlaw on Wall St., where he met the love of his life, Louise (Vono) Kruger, at 16 years old, recently celebrating 62 years of marriage. Richard and Louise lived in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, NY, opening “Lu Lu’s Back in Town” on 3rd Ave. and 84th St., a recycled clothing store in the mid-1970s to early 1980s.
They moved upstate New York to the Town of Rosendale together, creating a successful limousine company called “All County One.” After retirement, Richard and Louise decided to open a yard sale business called “Richie’s Yard Sale” on Brabrant Rd, Kingston, NY. He loved everyone who stopped by to purchase item(s) or even to chat about an antique piece and the history of the Hudson Valley.
He was an avid and loyal NY Yankees fan and never missed a chance to watch his Yankees. Richard was a de- vout Catholic who truly lived life to the fullest through prayer and the simple pleasures; he loved his music, dancing, and being the life of the party while enjoying life all around.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; his brother Bob (Diane) Kruger, his sister Christine Valerie; his son, Gregory (Susan) Kruger, his daughter Dawn, and his son Matthew (Bridgette) Kruger, followed by his grandchildren, Michael, Chelsea, Taylor, Jon, Lauren, Kyla, Robbie, Sofia, and Ava and his 4 great-grandchildren Lucas, Jon Jr., Evelyn, Pierce, and many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held in honor of Richard to celebrate his life and memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Rest in peace, Richard Anthony Kruger. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
