Richard A. Alexander, Sr., 71, of Kingston, NY, died Saturday, September 10, surrounded by his loving family at the Kingston Hospital. He was born November 28, 1939 in Ellenville, the son of Dorothy Churchwell Alexander of Kingston and the late Percy Alexander.
He was the husband of the late Lois Embree Alexander, they wed on July 22, 1972 at Old Dutch Reformed Church, Lois died on December 4, 2010. He had served in the US Army from 1957 - 1959
Richard had been employed by Miron Lumber and Island Dock as Masonry Manager for 24 years. He was an avid bowler, bowling in the Sunday Nite Mixed Silver Division on Sunday nights. For two years he had served as president. Member of AARP, he also loved metal detecting and fishing.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his son Richard A. Alexander, Jr., Kingston, NY, daughters Cynthia and her husband Gregory Bradley, Lynchburg, VA, Elaine and her husband Timothy Riley, Covington, GA and Lori J. German, Ewing, NJ. Grandchildren Andrew and William R. German, Zachary Riley, Mark Bradley, Sara Bradley, brothers Philip Alexander, Kingston, Denis Alexander, Kingston, Douglas Alexander, Rennselear, NY. Dear friends Joan A. Brandt, Mary Mayone and Patricia and Paul DeGraff. Many nieces and nephews.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm.
Entombment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
