Rhoda S. Gellen, 91, of New Paltz, died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Woodland Pond at New Paltz.
Born in Brooklyn, she was a daughter of the late Abraham & Celia Brickman Silverman. She worked as a secretary in the Kingston Schools for many years. She loved and was loved by many friends and a large extended family. She played bridge and mah jong with some of the same friends for over 50 years. She had a beautiful smile for everyone she met every day and made the world a better place for all of us.
Rhoda is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Gellen and her husband Arthur Palmer of Chicago, IL, Amie Gellen of Kingston, one sister, Linda Wasserberger of Chicago, IL, five grandchildren, Michelle, Adam and Sarah Palmer, Jacob and Ethan Shanley, one great grandchild, Shalva Palmer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Irwin Gellen who passed in 2011 and a sister, Arlene Sommers.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at Congregation Emanuel at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 with Rabbi Yael Romer, officiating.
Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
