Owen, Rev. Nelson G., 88, T/Kingston, passed into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Jan. 15, 2022. Born in Dunraven, NY to the late George Owen & Gladys (Roberts) Owen, Nelson was one of 13 children. Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Crum, their four children, Karen (Frank) Mergendahl, Judy (Kevin) Peters, Robert Owen and Debbie (Slim) Owen, eight grandchildren, Robert (Cassandra), Chris, Eric & Monica Mergendahl, James (Judy) & Timothy (Erina) Kiernan, Lauren & Aaron Peters, six great grandchildren, Jimmy, Aerith, Alicia, Anna, Madison & Blake, siblings, nieces and nephews.
Nelson proudly served in the US Army and reserves from 1953 to 1961 and was a graduate of Houghton College. He was Pastor of the Willow Wesleyan Church for many years. Nelson's passion in life was to serve God and to share His love by serving others. He loved sharing life with Mary, performing baptisms, weddings and funerals, singing hymns accompanied by his wife, sharing life experiences, family reunions, tinkering on everything, fixing bikes for the neighborhood kids, volunteering, fishing, playing with the grandkids, spending time and making memories with family, talking on the phone with his dear brothers and sisters and walking his beloved dog Mimzi.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston. Family and friends may visit at Grace Community Church, 160 Seremma Ct., Lake Katrine, NY 12449 on Thurs., Jan 20th from 2pm to 3pm. The Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm, followed by a military burial at Woodstock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Community Church Elder Fund or Hudson Valley Hospice.
