Rena Decker

Rena (Erina) Anna Decker, 87, of Kingston, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at Ten Broeck Commons. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late John & Mary Nelting Short. She worked at Kingston Hospital for many years as a unit coordinator and enjoyed a very close relationship with her granddaughter, Gina. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Simmons and her husband Pat of Kingston, a brother, Peter Short of Liberty, NY, a granddaughter, Gina Simmons Fischer and her husband Ron of Saugerties and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Christian. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Rena was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Guess and Elizabeth Schatzel and two brothers, Otto Short and Harry Short. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Charles Stickley officiating. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Hospice of Ulster and Dutchess Counties, 34 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.
