Reini (Rei) Norman

Reini Norman (Rei) of Kingston, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at his home. He died from complications of Neurolyme Disease. Born in Helsinki, Finland on April 11, 1936, he was the son of the late John and Ina Norman. He arrived in America in 1939 and was raised in the Bronx, NY. Rei graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City and went to Carnegie Mellon University where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Reini also did post-graduate studies in electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked at IBM for over thirty years. Rei started his profession in Yorktown, NY and moved many times during his career. He lived in New York, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and settled in Kingston. He held many different positions in development and had patents for his work as well as receiving numerous awards from his employer. Rei had many interests including chess, bridge, The NY Times Sunday crossword puzzles, and golf. Golf was a passion and he was proud of making a hole-in-one three times during his lifetime. Being a big sports fan, he loved the NY Giants and NY Rangers. Rei is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Roberta Moore Norman, a son, Christopher Norman and his wife Aura of Hermosa Beach, CA, a daughter, Larisa Norman and her husband, Daniel Funk of Falmouth, ME, three grandchildren, Spencer, Henry, and Celia and several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents, Rei was predeceased by his sister, Lisa Shuart of Stuart, FL. Funeral Service and interment for Rei will be held privately.
