Phyllis L. Weisblatt, 70, of Ulster Park, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at her home, beside her loving husband and surrounded by her children.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin & Mary Jacobs. She attended Bassick High School and the University of Bridgeport and earned a bachelor's degree in Art History from the State University of New York at New Paltz at the age of 45. She was the proprietor of Reflections, an art and gift shop in Long Beach Island, NJ. She was an accomplished artist and showed her paintings and pastels locally.
In 1962, Phyllis married the love of her life, Joseph Weisblatt. This began a true love affair that bloomed for 51 years. They raised three children and then moved to Ulster Park. Her tremendous love for her husband, children and family and her dedication to art, spirituality and a love of life is what sustained her. She was a beautiful person both inside and out and she will be sorely missed. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Joseph H. Weisblatt of Ulster Park, three children, Adam J. Weisblatt and his wife Danielle of Fairfield, CT, Beth Alden and her husband Joseph Randell of Saugerties, Daniel W. Muric of Falmouth, MA, one sister, Sally Rosenblum and her husband Simon of Newburgh, two brothers, Joseph Jacobs and his wife Terry of Phoenixville, PA, and Bernard Jacobs and his wife Janice of Fairfield, CT. Six grandchildren, Rebeca, Jacob, Ethan, Jordan, Winter, Finley and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Phyllis's life will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave.
Interment will be private.
