Philip V. Sior of Station Road died Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Golden Hill Health Care Facility. He was 87.
Born in Jersey City, NJ on November 8, 1917, he was a son of the late Philip and Margeret Stockle Sior. On June 11, 1938 he married Evelyn Rita Richter. During WW II he worked in the shipyards building the Liberty Ship and others in Baltimore, Maryland.
A resident of Port Ewen for many years he owned and operated a gas station and was an auto mechanic. He then did private contstruction and later worked for Spinneweber Construction, Port Ewen until his disability.
He moved to Hurley in 1997 and was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.
For 20 years Mr. Sior and his wife traveled coast to coast camping in a motor home that he built.
One sister Genevive McCauley died previously.
Beloved husband of 66 years to Evelyn Richter Sior; loving father of Philis McCloskey of Kingston and Thomas Sior of Kingston, brother of Martin Sior of Kingston and the late Genevive McCauley, grandfather of David Sior, Beth Ann Akins and her husband David, Noel Sior, Jayne McCloskey, Shawn McCloskey and his wife Patricia and Andrew McCloskey and his fiancé Adriana Carney; great grandfather of Rebecca and Nicholas Akins, Sarah and Anastasia Sior and Kevin McCloskey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:45 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church at 11:30 AM. Private inurnment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rosendale.
