Philip S. Forman, 84, of South Manor Avenue, Kingston, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Benedictine Hospital. He was born May 3, 1927 in the Bronx the son of the late Jacob and Hermine Forman. He was the husband of the late Leona Biette Forman; she died on November 4, 1990.
Mr. Forman served in the US Army during the Korean War. In his childhood he spent most of his years in Margaretville with his grandparents and family, eventually moving there. He had attended Rochester Institute of Technology and had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service, having worked at the Central Post Office on Cornell Street, retiring in 1992.
He was an active volunteer, working with RSVP at Ulster County Community College, volunteered for many years at the Benedictine Hospital; he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, traveling, stamp collecting and crossword puzzles
Philip is survived by his loving family, daughters; Mary Ellen Forman of Kingston and Lee Anne Hamilton and her husband Todd of Kerhonkson, grandsons Brandon and Jason Tschirky, granddaughters Lindsay Hamilton and Meghan Hamilton, several nieces and nephews.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 pm. The service will on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery with military honors provided by Joyce Schirick Post # 1386 VFW.
