Philip H. Roeber, Sr., 77, of Albany, NY, formerly of Kingston, NY, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025. He was born on November 13, 1947, in Kingston, NY, son of the late Herbert and Josephine (Froelich) Roeber.
He was active in many pursuits during his life starting at an early age. He had a large paper route in his early teens and also participated in the Drum and Bugle Corps through High School. After school, Phil sold lawn mowers, tractors and then life insurance which led to his ultimate career in the Automotive business. This spanned over 30+ years including owning his own used car dealership, Price Rite Motors, for 15 years. He believed in the simple principal of treating his customers like friends. His outgoing personality was contagious and everywhere he went, he ran into someone he knew. He often would stop and make the time to converse with them even when he had someplace to be or something to do. Those connections were so important to him and he relished that time spent. After his time in the car business ended, he worked for Cristo Demolition for 15 years in many different roles until his retirement.
Phil loved to be on the water. He was happiest on his boat with his family and friends. Whether it was on the Hudson River, locking up to Lake Champlain, cruising on Lake George, or enjoying time in Florida, especially with his friends and family in tow. Phil was a Commodore of the Awenke Boat Club, and also Commodore of the Mohawk-Hudson Yacht Club. He was founding member of the Hop-O-Nose Boat Club in Catskill. He was also a member of the Albany Yacht Club as well. Boating was one of his passions that made him happy. Phil also enjoyed being with his family. He was a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 14 and had immense joy when both of his eldest grandsons, Josh and Jake became Eagle Scouts. He also enjoyed seeing his grandchildren’s games and graduations.
Phil loved to travel, especially with his family. Whether it was numerous trips to Disney, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Italy, or even just a day at the beach. He had such enjoyment seeing his family be happy and have a good time. He was the best story teller, his charisma and zest for life drew you to him. He was funny, loving and a mentor to many.
Phil is survived by his partner of 38 years, Antoinette Cristo, her brother Tom and his wife Regina, her sister Philomena and her husband Ken. He is also survived by his brother Gary, his brother Paul and his wife Katie, his sister Vicky and her husband Brad, his sister Michelle, his brother-in-law Sean and wife Annie.
