Philip E. Quick, 83, of Saugerties, passed away on January 28, 2022, at the Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Born in Plattekill, NY. He was the son of the late Edward Quick & Luwilda Ayers.
He graduated from the New Paltz Central School, Class of 1956. He was employed by IBM at the Kingston facility for over thirty years, first as an assembly worker and later in the Product Test division. He was granted a leave of absence from IBM to serve in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964 stationed at Fort Jackson, SC and later Fort Huachuca, AZ. He then served in the Army National Guard of New York until 1966.
Phil was an outdoor enthusiast, going on many canoe trips and hikes with his family and friends. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club for several years and maintained a trail on Hunter Mountain.
He was also a dedicated animal lover and could never pass a dog without saying hello and offering them a treat on his frequent walks around his neighborhood.
We will miss his sense of humor and his devotion to his family.
Philip is survived by his two sisters, Jacqueline Tougas and her husband Terrence, of New Milford, CT, and Wilma Quick, of Brookfield, CT, a niece Stephanie and a nephew Eric, Philip is also survived by his four cousins Walter, Bernice, Beverly and Marilyn.
Friends may call on February 8, 2022 at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, from 2PM to 4Pm.
A service of remembrance will begin at 3PM.
