Peter P. Keizer

November 23, 1940 — January 2, 2013

Peter P. Keizer, Jr., 72, of West Hurley, passed peacefully Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013 at the Kingston Hospital, after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born November 23, 1940 in Kingston, the son of Esther Keizer of Springfield, VT and the late Peter P. Keizer, Sr.




He was the husband of Susan Barten Keizer; they celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on August 31st of last year.




A graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1958, he then entered the US Navy, where he was a flight navigator serving on the USS Forrestal. He then graduated from Dutchess County Community College and attended Rochester Institute of Technology,




He had worked for IBM Kingston and Poughkeepsie for 37 years, retiring in 2001. After retiring from IBM he worked at Kingston High School as a teacher's assistant. Peter was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved golfing. He was a life member of the Lake Katrine Rod & Gun Club,





In addition to his wife Susan and his mother Esther, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly A. Keizer, and his son Shawn P. Keizer both of Lake Katrine, a sister Joann McKenney and her husband Gary of Springfield, VT, two nephews, his lifelong friend John Hobart and his beloved golden retriever Ibby.




Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, friends may call on Friday from 2 -4 & 7 - 9. The procession will form on Saturday at 9 am and proceed to St. Johns RC Church where at 10:00 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
