Peter H. Rua, 87 a lifelong resident of Kingston, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in East Kingston, he was the son of the late Henry Rua & Teresa Carpino Rua Costa.
First and foremost Peter loved his family beyond measure. He was a complex man with many varied experiences, interests and talents. As a young man, Peter worked the hotel circuit, traveling to Arizona, Florida or Lake Mohonk as the seasons changed. He was a business owner, a partner in a night club and worked as a bartender locally, including many years at Mid City Lanes. Gardening, canning his tomato crop, woodworking, weight training, cooking, stonework and golfing were just some of his varied interests. He had become quite a rose aficionado in recent years. He enjoyed a good glass of wine or an ice cold beer especially after he finished his yard work. He loved to tell stories of growing up in East Kingston and the vibrant and loving community family. He was a true man of the soil. The simple things in life brought him the greatest pleasure and the greatest peace. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him including all his in-laws who cherished him.
Peter is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan DeLuca Rua of Kingston, whom he married on June 9, 1984, two daughters, Sheri Riker and her husband, Jules Albertini of Cottekill, Christine Rua of Saugerties, a son, Jeffrey Rua and his wife Debi of Deer Lodge, MT, six siblings, Gloria, Rosemary, Patty, Michelle, Joseph and Marlene Costa, seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Angela, Mark, Jordan, Jake, Joshua and Megan, nine great grandchildren, Eliza, Kristian, Kayla, Kyle, Aubree Nicole, Christian, Jayson, Vanessa and Jade.
