Peter G. Sarkies of Luhmann Drive, New Milford, NJ died Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. He was 84.
Born in Kingston on April 6, 1921, he was a son of the late Solomon and Agnes Fadoul Sarkies.
After graduating from Kingston High School, class of 1941, Peter entered the US Marine Corp in 1941. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was discharged in 1945.
Peter married Dorothy Amato on November 11, 1950 at St. Mary's Church, Kingston, NY.
After attending New York University, he worked at several film producing companies. He then worked at N.B.C., New York City for 25 year as a film editor. A member of the Film Editors Guild he retired in 1985.
Mr. Sarkies has lived in New Milford since 1951. Two brothers Michael and Maroon Sarkies and two sisters Mary Habeeb and Libby Janakis all died previously.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Amato Sarkies; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY on Friday 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Broadway, Kingston at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kingston on Tuesday at 12:00 PM.
