Peter D Hazzard

Peter D. Hazzard, 69, of Kingston, NY, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Golden Hill in Kingston after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia for many years. He was born December 9, 1950 in Cortland, NY the son of the late Robert and Doris (Colegrove) Hazzard.

Pete married his college sweetheart, Ronnie Colgan, on July 7, 1973 at Sacred Heart Church in Palenville, NY. He grew up in Otego, NY and was a graduate of Unadilla High School. He then went on to attend Siena, Parsons, Marist, and Union Colleges to higher his education. Pete worked in Software Engineering and Mainframe for IBM in Kingston and Poughkeepsie for many years.

He loved the Adirondacks and was an avid outdoorsman, especially paddling, jet skiing on the Hudson River, backpacking, hiking, and winter camping with Ronnie in the Adirondacks. He enjoyed Opera, Symphonies, and was a Porsche, Jaguar, and Rover car enthusiast.

Pete is survived by his former wife, Ronnie Hazzard-Matthews and her husband Robert Matthews, his sister in law, Kelly Colgan-Azar, dear friends, John Lanna, Darlene Moore, and Mary Beth Lewis, and a beloved supportive niece, Jenna Colgan. His love for the children of Winter Bear Montessori School, where he was affectionately called "Mr. Pete", was a big part of his adult life. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister, Patricia Nielson.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston, NY. Services will be held privately.
