Kingston - Pearl L. Van Horn of Brewster St. died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at home. She was 101. She was born in Woodstock, New York, a daughter of the late Grover and Hazel Quick Lane. A registered nurse, she founded the Van Horn Nursing Home in Sleightsburgh. She was married to the late Nelson Van Horn. She is survived by her granddaughter, Bettie Ashdown Van Horn, with whom she lived, her daughter, Barbara Ashdown of Kingston, her granddaughter, Linda DePuy, and her friend, Michael Madsen. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Lane, and his wife, Anna Marie, of New Jersey, her sister-in-law, Mae Lane of New Jersey. and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her great great-grandson, Ayden, and other great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her sons, Edward Van Horn and Stanley Roberts, her daughter, Hazel DePuy, her brother, Alfred Lane, and her sister, Maybelle Wilbert.
Entrusted to the care of Paul Geary of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston where friends will be received on Thursday from 6 - 8 PM. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, 10:00 AM in Wiltwyck Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, 316 Old Stage Road, Saugerties, NY 12477.
