Pauline Aikeley of Stony Run Apartments, Kingston, died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing Home, West Islip. She was 92.
Miss Aikeley was born in Brookville, PA on October 1, 1912, the daughter of the late Frank and Viola Coher Aikeley. Miss Aikeley graduated from the Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing, Brookly, NY. She was an Alumnus of New York University, NYC.
She served as a Captain in the US Army Nurse Corps during WW II. As a volunteer Army nurse, Miss Aikeley served at Moore General Hospital, Ashville NC and the CBI Theater in Burma at the 18th General Hospital.
Formerly of Dix Hills, Long Island, from 1937 to 1973 she was a registered professional nurse at Queens General Hospital, Jamaica. Miss Aikeley moved to this area from Pinellas Park, Florida in 1979. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston.
Surviving are many dear friends, including Sister Marilyn Hartmann, CSJ of Brentwood.
Reposing at the Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday 2-4 PM. The funeral procession will form on Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.
