Paul D. Supple, 74, of Parker Ave, Esopus, NY, formerly of the Bronx, NY, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in his home. He was born January 20, 1935 on Long Island in Floral Park, NY to the late Edmond F. and Anna V. (Kilkenny) Supple.
Paul received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Fairfield University. He completed graduate studies at SUNY New Paltz, and received a Permanent Teaching Certificate in the area of mathematics, chemistry and general science from the NY State Education Department.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Paul attained the rank of Specialist Third Class (T) and received an honorable discharge in January of 1958.
Paul resided at various locations in the greater NY City area prior to entering the military in 1955. After his retirement from the N.Y.C. Department of General Services, Paul moved from the city to the mid-Hudson region.
Employed as a full-time high school math and general science teacher, Paul taught at various schools in N.Y.C. and its suburbs for a period of 13 years. Following his teaching career, Paul was hired by the N.Y.C. Dept. of General Services as a Real Property Manager in 1982. In this position his assignments included inspections and reporting on Real Estate and Properties owned and managed by the city. He received a number of commendations in this position before retiring from the Department in 1998.
Paul enjoyed airplane model building and had a lifelong interest in flying and aviation. During his retirement years he planned and completed many home improvements in and outside of his home in Esopus. Paul also enjoyed observing and feeding the local wild-bird population in the neighborhood.
Paul is survived by his brother John V. Supple and his wife Loretta of Pittsfield, MA, and many Nieces & Nephews.
He was predeceased by: Sister, Eileen Young; Sister, Julia Bull; Brother, Edmond Supple; Sister, Marie Rice; Sister, Margaret Graham; Brother, Gerard Supple and Brother, Richard Supple.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 216 Broadway, Port Ewen.
There will be no local funeral services. There will be a burial of his cremated remains in the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield, MA.
