Patrick J. McLoughlin of O'Neil St. Kingston, NY passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at his home. He was 70..
Born on May 26, 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Patrick was the son of the late Patrick J. and Bridget McMahon McLoughlin. After spending his childhood, teenage and early 20's in Brooklyn, Patrick moved his family to Port Washington, NY and enjoyed his career as a Draftsman at Foster Engineering.
In 1977, Patrick relocated his family to Kingston and after subsequent temporary relocations to Guadalajara Mexico, Farmingdale, NY and Spring Valley, NY, he returned to Kingston.
Surviving are his four children; Mary D. McLoughlin of Kingston, Maureen P. Swithers and her husband Brian H. Swithers of Saugerties, NY Patrick K. McLoughlin and his wife Corinne M. McLoughlin of East Meadow, NY and Bridget K. Guite and her husband Dean R. Guite of Kingston, his grandchildren; Justin S. McLoughlin, 16, Dean R. Guite, Jr., 3, Vincent P. McLoughlin, 2, and Kathryn B. Guite, 1. He was also looking forward to the birth of his 5th grandchild, a boy, in May.
Also surviving are his former wife Mary L. Nielsen of Port Washington, NY and two sisters; Mary DiTomasso and her husband Peter DiTomasso of Brooklyn, NY and Margaret Tellefsen and her husband Daniel Tellefsen of Port Jefferson, NY.
His sisters Susanna McLoughlin, Rose Mills and Kathleen Lango as well as one brother, Matthew McLoughlin all died previously.
Patrick enjoyed country music and had a particular love and respect for Native American history. He collected crosses and had a strong faith in the Catholic Church.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral procession will form on Friday at 9:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Kingston at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Montrepose Cemetery.
