Patricia Anne Mahar LaGorga, 74 of Shokan passed peacefully at home on December 22, 2014, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Schoharie, NY, a daughter of the late James and Pearl Mahar.
Patricia loved being a public servant, working for New York City's Water Supply Department, providing banking services at the Shokan bank, assisting teachers at the Onteora School District, serving on the local democratic committee, and volunteering her time at UGARC and countless other community organizations. She treasured being a mother, grandmother and friend, and the time she spent with her family and friends. To her final days, reminiscing about vacations, meals and talks shared with friends and family brightened her heart. She was adept at being the life of the party and bringing kindness to everyone she meet.
Patricia is survived by a daughter, Anne Marie and her husband Mark Gordon and their children Jennifer, Sarah and Zachary, a daughter, Lisa Anne, a son, John James and his wife Susan and their children John and Lydia. Patricia is preceded by her husband, John LaGorga, of 28 years, and her only sister Mary Mahar Nethaway.
A private service will be held for the family.
A memorial celebration will be held at the Colony Caf, Woodstock NY, on January 24 at 11:30 AM. Please bring a photo and a story.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to UGARC Foundation (Strauss House) 471 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401.
