Norman Gedney Lebhar

Norman Gedney Lebhar, III, age 71, of Gedney farm, Hurley, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Lebhar was born August 5, 1936 at Yonkers, NY the son of the late Norman G. and Teresa DeMott Lebhar. He married Barbara Hill Lebhar on June 25, 1977 at West Park, NY.

Mr. Lebhar was still active as an agent for Northwest Mutual Life. Prior to that he had been an agent for Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance with an office on 5th Ave. in NYC.
As a youth he attended St. Thomas School and sang in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Boy's Choir in New York City.He was a graduate of the Scarborough Prepatory School and Columbia University

He had been on the Hurley Library Board, was on the Corn & Craft Festival Committee, was an avid tennis player, loved the works of Shakespeare and had recently taken a course on Shakespeare at UCCC, was a avid NY Times crossword puzzle enthusiast, and enjoyed the 4th of July celebration, being well know for his display of over 100 flags

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Lauren Lebhar of Vieques, Puerto Rico, Lisbeth Costa of Rockport MA and one son: John Lebhar of Hatfield, MA, step sons Jay Burgess of Hurley, NY; John Burgess of San Antonio, TX; and David Burgess of Somersworth, NH, brothers Peter Lebhar of SC, Micheal Lebhar of Holland and Nicholas Lebhar of Yonkers
8 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; A niece and a Nephew, brother of the late Robert Lebhar

A memorial service will be held at the Hurley Reformed Church, Main Street, Hurley on Sunday April 19th at 4pm.
