Norma L. Andersen of Lawrenceville St. died Monday, December 01, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh. She was 87.
She was born January 3, 1921 in Jersey City, NJ the daughter of the late Anders and Helga Olsnes Nilsen.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston. For several years she was employed as a cook for the former Hudson Hills in Barclay Heights. She served a polling inspector for the Town of Ulster, volunteered at The Well in Saugerties, was a member of the Glenerie Lake Park Improvement Assoc., and was a devoted mall walker. She was a long time member of the Sons of Norway, Hudson Valley Lodge #432 and was a member of the lodge's weekly sewing circle.
Her husband Howard Andersen died in 1973.
Surviving are three daughters, Kirsten Andersen of Yonkers, Lisa Tomesch and her husband Frank of Poughkeepsie and Kari Rell and her husband John of Glenerie; one son, Gunnar Andersen and his wife Cynthia of Croton-on-Hudson. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Milla Andersen, James Fitzgerald, John, Helene, Annika and Kristiana Rell; Seth Pierzkor; Johanna Tomesch and one great-granddaughter Ava Pemberton. A brother, Charles Nilsen died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Wednesday from 2 4 & 7 9 PM. The funeral procession will form on Thursday, 11:45 AM from the funeral home and process to First Baptist Church for a 12:30 PM funeral service. Rev. Frank Vernol will officiate.
