Norma Barry

Norma M. Barry, 95, of Kingston, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. Born in Flushing, NY, she was a daughter of the late James S. & Amelia Persella Alkire. She was a member of the Town of Ulster Seniors, Leisure Club Seniors, Town of Ulster Republican Club and a member of the Ulster Hose #5, Ladies Auxiliary. Norma enjoyed bowling, reading and knitting. She is survived by a son, James R. Barry and his wife Jean of Washingtonville, NY, a brother, Robert Alkire of Fairlawn, NJ, four grandchildren, Richard, Robert, James Barry, Tammy Simko, three great grandchildren, Valerie & Joseph Simko and James Barry. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband, James Barry, who passed in 2002 and a daughter, Norma M. Lofink. Norma will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 2 to 5 PM. The funeral procession will form on Monday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in MT Marion Cemetery.
