Norma Boice Klippel, 93, of Port Ewen, passed peacefully Saturday morning, September 13, 2014 at her residence. She was born March 31, 1921 in Lake Katrine, the daughter of the late Pratt and Harriet Boice.
She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1940 and SUNY Delhi, class of 1942. She met her husband Herbert C. Klippel at college; they wed on October 16, 1943 at her family's residence in Lake Katirine. They would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this October.
For many years she had been employed by the Kingston City Schools as the cafeteria manger at the Robert Graves Elementary School, prior to that she had worked at Hercules.
Norma was an active and faithful member of the Reformed Church of Port Ewen, a member of the Dorcas Society and the Reformed Church Quilting Divas. She was a member of the Port Ewen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and had been a Leader in Ulster County 4 -H.
Herbert's work took them to Mooresville, NC where they lived for 27 years before moving back to Port Ewen. Norma enjoyed traveling, trips to Myrtle Beach, but most important to her was spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.
In addition to her husband Herbert, she is survived by her daughter; Linda Tierney and her husband Thomas, grandchildren Shannon Goodrich and her husband Michael of Port Ewen, Kerry Wolfeil and her husband Craig of Kingston, Sara Merck and her partner Gil Hartrum of Kingston, Jason Klippel and his partner Kelsey LaComb of Kingston and John Klippel and his wife Christine, 7 great grandchildren, a daughter in law Marie Klippel, a sister Harriet Foley of Fl., a brother Richard Boice of Lake Katrine and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Herbert B. Klippel, a brother Gordon Boice and two sisters Sarah Ford and Nancy Schwab.
Entrusted to the care of the Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 - 5 at the funeral home. The Memorial Services is Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. at Reformed Church of Port Ewen. The Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating. All are welcome. The funeral procession will from on Wednesday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am in Hurley Cemetery.
