Neil Freundorfer, of Wrentham St., Kingston died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. He was 59.
Neil was born and raised in Endwell, NY, the son of Francis Kenneth and June Pierson Freundorfer. He moved to Kingston in his Freshman year and graduated from Kingston High School, class of '69. A graduate of SUNY Cortland, he received a B.S. in Psychology. On August 25, 1974, he married Paulette Spampinato.
For the past 31 years Neil has worked at REHAB Programs, Poughkeepsie as a production manager, vocational rehab counselor and currently as coordinator of the volunteer program. He cared deeply for all those with whom he worked, and openly showed it. His sense of humor was delightful, and he loved to tease those he cared for, and they him. Neil was also a lover of cooking, eclectic independent music, all things British, and especially antiquing and collecting. Most weekends found him with family and close friends who shared his passion for "treasure hunting." But antiquing for him was much more. He savored and relished finding the perfect gift.
Beloved and faithful husband of Paulette, loving and inspiring father of Colyn Benjamin Freundorfer of Kingston; loyal son of Francis K. and June Freundorfer of Kingston, loving brother of Lynn Marie Colomello of Stanfordville, affectionate friend to brother-in-law Paul Eades. He is survived by niece Elizabeth Colomello and husband Steve Poleri, nephew Charles Peter Colomello, and many family members from both Endwell, NY and Pennsylvania.
Neil's life will be remembered at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
