Nancy M. (Barnum) Burr, 84, of High Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born December 24, 1931 in Kingston, to the late Paul and Kathryn (Cole) Barnum. She was married to Bertrand "Bert" Burr; they wed on June 10th 1950 at Reformed Church of the Comforter in Kingston. Bert passed away on January 26th 2007. Nancy was a Kingston High School Graduate. She later retired from Davenport Implement in High Falls in 1986.
She was an active member of the United Reformed Church of Bloomington where she served on the Consistory, Women's Guild, and sang in the Choir. She was a member of The Red Hat Society, Rosendale Senior Citizens, Kingston High School Alumni Choir, Order of the Eastern Star, Senior Bowling League, and Stone Dock Women's Golf League. She also volunteered as a secretary for AARP in Gardiner.
Nancy is survived by her children, Christine (Skip) Lyons of Port Ewen, Bruce (Linda) Burr of Delhi, NY, Carolyn (Len) Pitt of Greenfield Park, NY, Jeffrey Burr of Naples, FL, her sister, Helen (Robert) Scheffel of Kingston, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Brian Burr.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sunday September 25th from 4-7pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday September 26th at 10am at the United Reformed Church of Bloomington. Burial will follow in Rosendale Plains Cemetery, Rosendale.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to United Reformed Church of Bloomington, PO Box 206, Bloomington, NY 12411.
