Myron Singer of St. James St., Kingston, died Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Kingston Hospital. He was 87.
Myron was born in the Bronx on March 15, 1918, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Sherman Singer. He seved in the US Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Captain Singer was awarded the Silver Star for “gallantry in action in Luzon, Philippine Islands on May 24, 1945.” He also received a Purple Heart.
On January 18, 1948 Myron married Lillie Meinrath. Together, they owned and operated “Lillie Hand Décor” in Hewlett, Long Island for 43 years. Myron designed and manufactured plexiglass bathroom accessories for the business.
Formerly of Forrest Hills, Myron lived in Gibson for 31 years. In 1980 Myron and Lillie moved to Kingston. Myron was a member of Temple Emanuel, Kingston.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 57 years are two daughters Bonnie Lynn Weltin and her husband Dr. Hans Weltin of Monsey, and Nickie Anne Braxton and her husband Anthony Braxton of Milford, Conn.; one son Richard Todd Singer and his wife Eunice Singer of Rockville Centre; nine grandchildren Tyondai, Keayr and Donari Braxton, Rebecca Koblick, David Weltin, Corey and Evan Singer, Hector and Lenny Valenti and six great grandchildren Moshe, Akiva, Hadassa, Savannah, Emily and Ashton.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:00 AM at Temple Emanuel, 243 Albany Ave. Rabbi Yael Romer will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
