Myles L. Lee, Jr, of Kingston, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his home. Born in Saranac Lake, NY, he was a son of the late Myles L. Sr. & Florence Carroll Lee Jeddrey, and predeceased by two of his siblings, Lindy Lee and Norma Lawson. Myles is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Riley Lee of Kingston, four children, Katherine Lee Carey and her husband Alex of San Diego, CA; James Lee and his wife Laurie of Brandon, FL; David Lee of Colorado Springs, CO; Jonathan Lee of Kingston; a sister, Carroll Luben of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Lauren, Elizabeth and Rose. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Myles was born in Saranac Lake, New York and grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1965. He attended Boston State College from 1965-1967. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 and served for seven years, wherein he received many accolades and commendations for his exemplary service record. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Enterprise aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1974, he lived with his family in Belmont, MA before settling in Kingston, NY in 1977. He was employed by IBM for 17 years, after which he earned a B.S. in Business Administration at SUNY New Paltz. He then worked for Ulster County Social Services for 11 years in the Medicaid division and later as an independent caseworker, working tirelessly to help aging people receive needed benefits. Myles was a diehard Red Sox fan, was incredibly proud of his military service, speaking often of how much he enjoyed his time at sea. He loved golf, fishing, ice cream and Judge Judy. The family will receive friends at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 1-4 PM. A Memorial Service will take place at 4:00 PM at the funeral home with Deacon Michael Sweeney of St. Mary of the Snow Church, officiating. Military honors by the Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 will immediately follow the service. Interment will be held privately. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to organizations that assist and support Veterans.
