Minnie Barban, 100, of Kingston, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at Golden Hill Health Care Center.
Born in Russia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Esther Horowitz Magsitza.
Minnie came to the US as a child and lived on the lower east side. She married Sam Barban on June 11, 1933 and they lived in the Bronx. She enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women. She worked for many years at Publishers Distributors in New York City.
Minnie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Gurwitz and her husband, David of West Hurley, her son in law, Robert Noble, her 7 grandchildren, Leah, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Deborah, Sarah, Daniel and Joseph, her 9 great grandchildren, Ariel, Joshua, Sharona, Sam, Rachael, Samuel, Sandra Gail, William and Eli. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, Minnie was predeceased by her husband, Sam Barban and her daughter, Sandra Noble, her sister Cele, her brothers Abe and Alan.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, NY at 1:00 PM.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Golden Hill Health Care Center Activities Fund, 99 Golden Hill Drive, Kingston.
