Mildred Dixon, 94, of Lake Katrine, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at Ten Broeck Commons.
Born in Walden, NY, she was a daughter of the late Sherman & Leta Effner DeLong.
Mildred was full of lifea fighter who overcame many challenges throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She recently told a story of receiving a gift of a scooter as a young girl. She was so thrilled, she rode it for hours, until she had to come inside to avoid heat exhaustion. She lost her father when she was four months old, but she often said that if he had lived, she might have been a very spoiled little girl. We would like to think of her now, smiling, riding that scooter, being spoiled by those who love her and passed before.
Mildred is survived by her four children, Annette Korcak and her husband Richard of Napanoch, Marcia Jackson and her husband Thomas of Stone Ridge, Sharon Cook and her partner John of Cohoes, NY and Sheila Molony and her husband Randall of Farmington, CT, 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive. In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Dixon, who passed in 1991, a daughter, Frances Moshier who passed in 1980 and a brother, Thomas Dixon, who passed away this year.
Mildred will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating.
