Mildred Barrell

February 2, 1913 — January 13, 2008

Mildred "Millie" Barrell of Flatbush Road died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at home with the support of those who loved her. She was 94. She was born February 2, 1913, a daughter of the late Winston and Zelda Smith Barrell. From 1976 until 2005, she resided with the Erno Rodriquez Family Home prior to moving the Ulster-Greene ARC Palmer Center in March of 2005. For many years, she was employed by Pilot Industries and lately participated in ARC's Dayhab Program. Mildred was a woman of small stature and large personality. She enjoyed crocheting, singing, dancing and telling stories. Mildred was a woman who knew what she wanted and was not afraid to tell you. Although she could be "headstrong", she had a kind and loving side. She was especially fond of children and babies and they were often drawn to her. She liked to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Mildred's favorite holiday was Halloween, when she loved to dress up in her witch costume. The Christmas holiday would find her walking the halls in her Santa outfit singing her favorite Christmas Carol. Mildred inspired those around her with a zest for life that could sometimes make her a force to be reckoned with. She lived life to the fullest and her presence in the lives of those who loved her will be sorely missed. She is survived by many dear friends at the Rodriquez Family Home and the Palmer Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 12:00 noon by Pastor Al Schofield at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
