Michele Palmer

On Sunday, April 24, 2022, Michele Catherine Palmer (nee Gambon), loving wife, mother, and Mimi, passed away after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born June 27, 1951, in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jane Gambon. Michele grew up in Greenlawn, Long Island, on Dressler Road, with many dear neighbors and friends. Michele loved the ocean and spent many days on the Long Island beaches.

Michele was a dedicated and caring teacher, retiring from the Rondout Valley School District in 2010. Michele had a great love of literature and writing and worked diligently to foster that same love in her students. Well respected by her colleagues, students, and parents, Michele was selected as Teacher of the Year and awarded an honorary chair at the State University of New Paltz. Michele’s care for others extended into the community; for a number of years, she volunteered at the Rondout Valley Food Pantry.

Michele is survived by her husband of 50 years, Raymond, her children Janine Palmer, Allison Wolfe (David), Brett Palmer (Nichola), and her grandchildren Alley and Avery Budd and Hattie and Catherine Wolfe. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Michele was also blessed to have four best friends who were more like sisters to her, Janis Bianco, Dianne Ewashko, Kathleen Cloonan, and Maureen Bowers.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401 where family and friends may visit on Thursday April 28, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm and on Friday April 29, 2022 from 9:30am to 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Friday April 29, 2022 at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 242 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401. Burial will follow in Hurley Cemetery, Hurley, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Michele Palmer to the Hurley Library PO Box 660 Hurley NY 12443 or St Jude Children’s Hospital at www.StJude.org
