Michael John Pallazzo, a long-time resident of the Hudson Valley, entered into rest on July 29, 2014, at the Veterans Home of California in Chula Vista.
He was born on January 3, 1923, in Burlington, Vermont, to Michael Pallazzo and Olivine Reuschel Pallazzo and grew up in Newburgh, New York.
During World War II, he served in the Army in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry "Indianhead" Division. He participated in the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of St. Lo, and in the Battle of the Bulge.
On July 3, 1948, he married Norine L. Brew of Kingston, New York. He built his house in the Town of Newburgh, where they raised a family. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He retired from IBM, Poughkeepsie in 1985.
Mike's disarming personality and entertaining stories and anecdotes will be sadly missed by those who loved him. Among his survivors are his three children, Norine P. Battle , Michele L. Pallazzo, and Michael A. Pallazzo; five grandchildren, Jessica M. Demundo , John M. Nunmaker, Llewellyn Davenport, Michael J. Pallazzo II , and Jennifer M. Pallazzo; his sisters, Patricia Zambito, Anna Mae Perry, and Jean Harris; eight great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by Norine, his loving wife of 63 years, and his sister, Lorraine Balchunas.
Cremation was private. Graveside service and inurnment will take place at Montrepose Cemetery in Kingston, New York at 11:00AM on August 30, 2014.
