Michael J. Gartner was born in New York City, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Gartner (Barna). Michael was raised in Queens and married Magdalena A. Gartner on July 4, 1947 while in active Army duty in Germany. For 40 years he was a first class machinist. He made many one-of-a-kind cameras for military purposes and also made cameras for NASA. He worked in Long Island City and then for Huck Manufacturing, Kingston. After retiring Michael and Lena moved to Olive Bridge; they have lived in Kingston since 1997. Michael belonged to the Olive Senior Citizens Group and enjoyed many trips with his wife and their fellow seniors. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, was interested in history and was an avid fisherman. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. Loving husband of Magdalena A. Gartner; father of James and his wife Rosemary Gartner of Maryville, TN; Victor and his wife Naida Johnson of Gardner, Mass; Dolores and her husband Elery Mann of Lindenhurst, NY; grandfather of Renee Betz, Brian Michael Gartner, Willie and Michael Mann; great grandfather of Sabrina and Sean Betz; brother of Richard Gartner of Kingston, Edmund Gartner of Kentucky, the late Joseph Gardner of Sarasota, FL and the late John Gartner of Harrodsburg, KY, the late Robert Gartner of Calverton, NY, and Rose Marie Hitchcock of Oneonta, NY.
