Meyer Shapiro of Gina Court, Hurley and formerly of Brooklyn and Coconut Creek, Fl died Monday, October 17, 2005 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 88.
He was born May 22, 1917 in New York City, a son of the late Adolph and Sarah Shapiro.
For many years, Mr. Shapiro owned and operated a coffee shop in Brooklyn. He retired in 1995. For two years, he served as a crossing guard in Florida. He was a 55 year member of the Knights of Pythias, Continental Lodge # 666.
His wife, Esther Siegel Shapiro died in 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Shapiro of Manhattan, Helene Fliegler and her husband Charles of Hurley; six grandchildren, Brett and Allison Fliegler, Russ and Caryn Fliegler, Seth and Samantha Fliegler; two great-grandchildren, Emme and Matthew Fliegler.
A brother, Joseph Shapiro and a sister, Matty Konheim died previously.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 pm at I.J. Morris Funeral Home, 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NJ. Interment will follow in Wellwood Cemetery, Farmingdale.

From Kingston take Thruway South to Exit 4 (Cross County Parkway EAST)
Go approx. 2 mi. and take Exit 9 to Hutchinson River Parkway SOUTH.
Continue on parkway south to cross the WHITESTONE BRIDGE.
Crossing bridge, stay to the LEFT and take the CROSS ISLAND PARKWAY toward Eastern L.I.
Take Exit 30 E onto the Long Island Expressway/I-495 E toward Eastern L.I.
At Exit 42, merge onto the NORTHERN PARKWAY EAST toward Hauppauge.
As you exit parkway at EXIT 42 N, stay in the RIGHT lane and proceed to the fork in the road. Take the RIGHT fork (towards Northport) which becomes East Deer Park Road. Funeral home is on the right ½ mile from the fork.
