Meyer Basch

Meyer "Mike" Basch, of Pompano Beach, FL and formerly of Kingston died Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Hollywood, FL. He was 92. He was born in Kingston on September 27, 1915, a son of the late Mason and Esther Liebowitz Basch. Growing up in Kingston, he played in the basketball league for the Jewish Community Center. He served in the US Army during WW II. For many years Mr. Basch was a cattle dealer in the area and worked at a meat packing plant in Chester. He co-owned "The House of Glamour," formerly of Kingston, with his former wife Sally Norton Basch. He retired in 1978 from the Chester Meat Packing Plant, Chester. He moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in the mid-1980's. Surviving are two daughters Marcene Basch Johnson and her husband B. Robert of Stone Ridge and Kim Tegeler and her husband Donald of Kingston; one son Edwin Basch of Pompano Beach, FL; one brother Irving Basch of Florida; four grandchildren Seth and Amber Johnson, Kayla and Corey Tegeler. His former wife Sally Norton Basch died in 1978. One brother Harry Basch and one sister Ethel Schreiber both died previously. Funeral services will be conducted at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Avenue, Kingston on Tuesday at 2:00 PM. Rabbi Yael Romer will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery. Family and friends will then gather at the home of Don and Kim Tegeler, 16 Lynette Blvd., Kingston on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
