MaryEllen (VanNess) DuBois, 80, of Lake Katrine, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Northern Dutchess Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born July 22, 1934 to the late Abraham and Mary (Styles) VanNess. She was married to Donald J. DuBois, Sr. who passed away on September, 11 2013. Also, she was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Maggiore.
MaryEllen worked as the Food Service Manager before retiring in 1994 for Albany Avenue Nursing Home in Kingston. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Kingston where she served as a Deacon and taught the "Crafty Christians" class to the Sunday School Students. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. In addition she always looked forward to dining out and traveling with Albert, Jeanne, Elaine, Norman, Helen, and Leon.
MaryEllen is survived by her children, Floyd Halwick, Jr. and his fiancé Barbara Cook, Joel Halwick and his wife Karen, Harold Halwick and his wife Jill, Linda Boice, Corey Halwick and his wife Kathy, Wendy Boice and her husband James, Penny Augustine and her husband Michael, and Donald J. DuBois, Jr. and his wife Virginia, her brother, Norman VanNess and his wife Elaine, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. Friends and family may visit on Sunday December 21 from 4 - 7pm. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Monday December 22 at 10am. Burial will follow in Mt. Marion Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Ulster Hose Co. #5, 830 Ulster Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401
